Born 1805. Died 1869 - Scottish chemist.

Studied at the universities of Glasgow and Edinburgh. Became a professor of chemistry at numerous colleges including the University of London. Founded the Chemical Society of London in 1841. Best known for his studies on the diffusion of gases resulting in Graham's Law and his discovery of dialysis. Was elected FRS in 1836. His final postition was as the Master of the Mint, where he stayed for 15 years until his death.
