Played professional football before turning to entertainment. Best known for playing Dave Lister in the cult sci-fi sitcom Red Dwarf. Has presented a number of television programmes including Cyberzone, Funky Bunky and Robot Wars. Joined the cast of Coronation Street in 2005.
