Born 1920. Died 1999 - Painter and textile designer.

Studied at the Slade School of Art, London. Conscientious objector during WWII. Was an art critic for the New Statesman and Nation. Lectured and held one-man exhibitions worldwide. His publications include The Shape of Colour (1973) and The Colour of Colour (1978). His works can be seen at The Tate Collection, London and at Tate, St Ives, Cornwall.
