John Keble, the son of a churchman, went on to become a significant figure in the 19th century Anglican Church. He had a brilliant academic career at Oxford (a scholar at Corpus Christi College at 15) where he remained as a teacher until marrying in 1835 and moving to a living in Hampshire. Keble was one of the leading lights of the Oxford Movement who also wrote many volumes of sermons and published poetry. Four years after his death Keble College, Oxford was established to honour his name.
