Francis Kingdom-Ward was one of the last plant hunting botanist-adventurers, taking part in collecting expeditions to Tibet, Burma, India and China in a long and active career. He was a prolific author, recounting his adventures, the glories to be found in the little-visited regions he travelled in, and to a lesser extent on practical gardening matters.
