F R Leavis
- Favourite Briton.

Born in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
Born on 14th of July 1895
Died on 14th of April 1978

Frank Raymond Leavis was an extremely influential literary critic and academic, a fellow of Downing College Cambridge from 1936 to 1964 and later a visiting professor at Bristol, York and The University of Wales. His dislike of anything hinting at dilettantism, views on the nature and power of journalism, frequently idiosyncratic judgements of writers, distrust of the BBC, and his egotism, made him a figure mocked by some and almost worshipped by others.
