Jon Pertwee
- Favourite Briton.

Born in Chelsea, London
Born on 7th of July 1919
Died on 20th of May 1996

Pertwee’s childhood and youth was if not chaotic, at least complicated, his parents separating when he was young, his education punctuated by a series of expulsions from various public schools, and then a similar fate at RADA. He served in the Navy, including Naval Intelligence, in WWII, then became a vaudeville comedian and actor. John Pertwee’s CV contains many British film credits, but he is best remembered for BBC Radio’s timeless series The Navy Lark, and for his television roles as Worzel Gummidge and the third Doctor Who.
