Born 1937 - English poet, playwright and performer.

Educated at Hull University. Worked as schoolteacher and art college teacher. Member of the pop music/poetry group 'The Scaffold' (1963-73). Made his name as one of the 'Liverpool Poets' with Adrian Henri and Brian Patten. Twice won the Signal Poetry Award. Wrote a number of plays. Most recent works includes his poetry Everyday Eclipses (2002). Awarded OBE in 1997.
