1917 - 1992. Actor and comedian.

Made debut at Stage Door Canteen, Piccadilly, London in 1946. Appeared in revues including Out of This World (1950) and Pardon My French (1953). Television appearances included Howerd Crowd (1952), Frankie Howerd (1964-65) and The Frankie Howerd Show (1969). Best remembered as Roman slave in Up Pompeii! (1969-70). Films included The Ladykillers (1955) and Carry On Doctor (1967). Also performed in the musical A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (1963).
