Handel's Messiah at Christmas is a firmly established British tradition. In
Bristol, that has included Bristol Choral Society's performance of Messiah
at the Colston Hall on the Saturday before Christmas, since 1892.
These days, the choir performs the whole work from memory and is accompanied
by the exquisite playing of a Baroque orchestra, making for a delightful
start to any Christmas.
The 7.30pm complete evening performance is also preceded by a 4.30pm 'Mini
Messiah' for families - introducing children to this festive masterpiece in
under an hour.
