Wrotham Water, Kent
Wrotham Water is in Kent, England, on the
North Downs . It is not, as its name suggests, a lake, although there is a pond there. The area forms part of a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), having been designated as an SSSI in recognition of its important calcareous grassland. A variety of important and rare flora and fauna are present there, including many endangered orchids and butterflies. The area is the only know site for the milkwort feeding micromoth. The site is owned by the
National Trust and
Wrotham farm is run in a way to maximise conservation with reduced field sizes, hedgerows and beetle banks.
