Gloucestershire Reports
Review of Painswick by Robert Shea on June 3rd, 2008
We tried The Royal Oak after being away for 5 years in France. The Oak was our "local" but with new owners and a change of staff, some local gossip downed the pub. Yesterday we decided to see for ourselves with another couple. We were all very pleasantly surprised -welcoming reception - attentive service - wholesome good food, well prepared by the son of Sheila, the pub owner. We started in the courtyard but finished indoors out of the rain. Try the homemade bread and butter pudding.
