Bassenthwaite, Cumbria

Review of Bassenthwaite by shona on August 30th, 2009
My great, great ,grandmother was born in Bassenthwaite in 1829 they lived in the Halls ? her father was a teacher and dance instructor called Adam hope , her name was Faith hope she had a twin called Maria and there were another 4 siblings. I am 54 now but i can remember visiting and staying in Bassenthwaite when i was young , we stayed in a big house on the side of the hill/mountain , alas i can not recall which member of the family lived there , wish i could . Bassenthwaite is a beautiful little place and i have nothing but fond memories of my times there. We lived in Silloth our family name was Selkirk .
