Review of Salford by noel lee on May 13th, 2011
Born in ordsall in 1948, lived in the area till 1968 and experienced the full effects of the docks,Trafford road boys school, Ordsall Secondary Modern, Regent Road Baths,Ordsall Park and last but not least,Archie (coronation) Street. I visited Orsdall hall in the 60s as a school boy, taken there by Harold Riley, then a budding artist, seconded to Ordsall Secondary Modern School to teach local children art. I had the privaledge of being taught art by Harold Riley as a pupil of Orsall Secondary Modern in the early 60s. I remember Bergans Ice Cream in his horse drawn cart, Donkey stoning the steps with stones from the rag and bone man and the guy selling Corona pop from a truck which came around once a week. My final experience was working with Salford Police at their vehicle workshops in the early 1970s such a brilliant City, fabulous memories
