If you like cobwebs, cold showers and a central heating system that bangs through the night (unless everybody in the building turns their radiators off), this is the place for you.
Admittedly, we were in the "budget rooms" (£85 per night) as was pointed out by the owner, so perhaps this is the norm.
£25 per head for a three course meal seemed a bit steep too. The French onion soup would have been fine if it had had three sausages and a pile of mash underneath it and the duck tasted as if it had been galvanised prior to cooking.
The pool was cold according to others.
Apart from that, the countryside, the company and the warm welcome from the locals were all great!
Overall rating: Could do better, as was proved by the accommodation at the King Arthur at Reynoldston for £20 a night less.
We can only speak as we find...

The facilities (bathroom, bed etc) were very classy. The situation of the hotel, within walking distance of the village pubs, was another attraction.
Possibly it could provide a slightly larger choice (e.g. fruit, good quality natural yoghurt) at breakfast - but this is a minor suggestion
The room and facilities were excellent and the hotel was not too isolated - within easy walking distance of pubs that served real ales and excellent, reasonably priced meals. The staff were friendly and helpful.
