played this course today and its amazing! i have been playing 2 years now and i've played a fair few courses around leicestershire but this one takes the biscuit. im off 11 and im not short in length when playing well but this course would be the toughest of tests if i were on top form!!! par 3's over water, 600 yard par 5's and tough rough. its long!!! undulated and im sure a challenge for all levels of golfer. we had a brilliant day. the course is only a couple of years old and will be even better when it matures but hand on heart its great. for £20 its a top round of golf! enjoy

We love this course, infact as a group we are there regular during the summer months. The course is fantastic and more than worth the fees, we have watched this course grow from a par 3 nine hole. No stuffiness at this club which is just as well because the old bird behind the bar in the clubhouse calls us pikeys ha ha. Cant recommend this place enough just Debs lets the place down (ha ha only jokin Deb)

As an unexperienced golfer i found the level of help admirable, especially deb who ridiculed me but in a nice way, the golf carts were especially fun to ride,

Ive been going to this course since it was only a 9 hole par 3 course. I was there when they added what is now the Normanton course front 9 and I'm still there when they recently added the new Normanton back nine. It now holds a par 3 9 hole course annd a full 18 hole (Normanton) course. This is now probably the best course in the area. You will struggle to find any better kept greens and considering this is new. It will only mature into one of the best courses and highly rated in the country. Fairways nice and smooth. Semi rough a good depth, and the big rough, well its very big! Forget it if you go in there, Just drop a new one. Its easier!
The staff are always very welcome. The pro's are good. And there is no sign of the stuffy, stuck up , still in the dark ages attitude of some of the more established course's. People just want to play and enjoy the game and not be scrutinized. Fantastic course, fantastic layout, TOP NOTCH!

The new 9 holes opened the week before to take this great course up to 27 holes now (9 holes are par 3 - great for beginners).
With views on a par with the famous Loch Lomond course this really has to be played to be appreciated.
Quite challenging for the average golfer but could be considered a little easy for the more advanced player. This relatively new gourse is Great value and is only going to get better.

I found the course to be in fantastic condition especially for a pay and play course. The views are as good as any course i have played. It was a fair test of a golfers ability especially with a strong breeze blowing into your face on holes 8 and 9.I found the staff to be very welcoming with a good sense of humour and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will be returning soon.Having read a previous review by john it nearly put me off visiting but we are really glad we did and feel his review must be tongue firmly in cheek.

As a regular visitor to Rutland Water Golf Course I find Johns comments in his review extremely rude and unfair. The course started several years ago as a 9 hole Par 3 course, very far from the usual pitch & put. It later had a further 3 holes added which were later extended to 9. You now have the choice of a challenging 9 hole Par 3, the back 9 which consists of 2 x 3's 5 x 4's and 2 Par 5's or play them both as a Par 63 course. The views are outstanding and the staff extremely friendly and courtious, it is the type of course where you can take your children to introduce them to the game, how many other courses can you say that about? As far as the ground being hard John seems to forget that he was there during probally the hottest fortnight of the year. It is an all year course and a pleasure to play on a friendly basis with friends which I hope to continue to do for many more years.

Further to my review of the 30th August 2005, I feel a clarification is required. The last 4 months have been emotionally very difficulty for my partner Cecil and I following the death of our beloved poodle, Fluffy Button. I very much regret insinuating that the staff at Rutland Water Golf Course have no social skills. Their skills were more than apparent once the deep fog of grief lifted from my heat. Cecil and I have re-visited this gem of a course since and enjoyed ourselves immensely.
I heartily recommend this wonderful location to you all.
Thank you, John

The course is enjoyable for all players there is a short par 3 course for less experienced players and a full size nine, the views of the water are breath taking. I enjoyed my time at the course and recommend it to others

I enjoyed the surroundings, beautiful views of Rutland Water. The current owners and staff are Farmers; they lack the social skills or relative knowledge of running a Golf Course. In-fact they lack any common social skills. The course is open-plan and suffers from strong winds which will test your game. The course is new and well maintained. The ground is very hard. The course is very easy and not recommended for mid – advanced players. The course rates are fair to expensive. I would recommend this course to beginners looking to play without the liability of high club fees. Two 9 hole courses not full 18.
John I rate this course 5/10
