After making the booking very late, we were looking forward to staying at the hotel. I had read some disappointing reviews of the hotel but thought people were being fussy. I can sadly say they were not. The hotel is getting tired, from a badly scratched and bashed bar to grubby chairs. The garden room we stayed in was "ok" but again has a well worn feeling and not good value. When booking we were recommended the " Hicks" brasserie as we have a baby. The food was very disappointing, the steaks we ordered were not how we asked and possibly frozen before hand. The Hotel is in a prime location in a lovely village but complacency has well and truly set in. At the rear of the gardens is the spa which is nothing like the hotel, a great spa pool with a modern design.
Over all the hotel gets a thumbs down. It could be an amazing place but sadly is not.
