My husband and I went tot The Bay Tree in October 2010 for my birthday. It had been highly recommended by many people so we were quite excited about going. It was a drizzly cold October night and when we went in it was so cozy and inviting. We were greeted almost immediately and out coats taken. Our table was ready and waiting for us and most of the other tables were full (a good sign). The fish and chips had sold out, but we didn't want them anyway. We had the most delicious food- particularly the carrot & sweetcorn soup- everything was served freshly and nothing was cold. We were checked on occasionally during our meal, but not too much where it becomes intrusive. All in all I would say this was a lovely restaurant, delicious food, wonderful atmosphere and well worth the drive if it's not too close to you. For our meal it was about £100, so not inexpensive but a perfect venue for a special occasion. We had two three course meals, a couple of drinks each and coffee. I think we got excellent value for money and look forward to going again

I was really disappointed with the service and atmosphere, we were really looking forward to the food but the delays tainted our experience. The food was nice, but not as out standing as you would expect from the reviews and given the cost of the entire menu.

The Baytree at Melbourne is absolutely superb. I have been going for around 12 years, the food is exceptionally good, and the staff attentive.
Sunday lunch is a must, never hurried just two sittings one at 12.30 and 4.30.
The choice on the menu on this recent visit was second to none, and I plan to return very soon.
I would highly recommend it.
The food is always the freshest produce cooked to perfection.
Good choice of wines too.
