Fantastic restaurant run by Marcus and Julie Springett who are passionate about food. Comfortable relaxed atmosphere with really great food. Marcus's signature dish of warm smoked haddock with black pudding and curry emulsion is incredible. The roast saddle of rabbit was beautifully cooked and accompanied by shallots, mushrooms and summer truffle sauce. The corn fed duck was served with the best chips ever, they take five hours to prepare but are worth every minute. My jelly and lemon cream dessert was wonderfully light and my husband was pleasantly surprised by the way the orange crisp served with homemade chocolate icecream burst with flavour on the tongue. There is an extensive wine list. There are also four bright and comfortable rooms if you want to stay overnight.

The most charming restaurant and absolutely the best food I have tasted - intense flavours, interesting cominations and a balance that's just right. The Chef here is a master! I eat out alot across Europe and in the City of London and I must say the Vine House offers excellent value for money food provided by people who really care and know their stuff. If you want mass produced volume go elsewhere. This is class in the country!

We spent £70 ahead, 4 of us eating & drinking, our kia royals were made with a cheap opened fizzyless bottle of champagne, no accumplimants while we waited half hour for our table, we were very dis-apointed with the resturant it was crammed & uncomfortable, our waitress was un helpfull, the woman who run it was in jeans & T-shirt, Our food was by no means fresh, we were very dis-appointed with the food, we went home & cooked for our freinds as we were all still hungry. Very, Very bad for the money.
