This was meant to be a cosy 37th wedding anniversary meal. We decided to do the gourmet evening. We were told to arrive at 7pm for 7-30pm start. The demonstration was a joke, after enduring this we were shown to our intimate table for 2 which was against a wall hemmed in by a table of 4 people. Toby jokes about M&S but quite frankly the food from M & S tastes far better. We did not get to the main course and left after the stodgy flan. My daughter and son had been on seperate occasions and had recommended it to us. Prehaps on an ordinary evening it is far nicer. We did ask if we could have a quieter table but the head waiter was not that interested and said 'It was just a busy evening'. If you want a initmate meal do not go to a gourmet evening which will cost you £75 a head for a very indifferent meal and very noisy. Although the wine, water and champagne is included in the price you are better off buying your wine and getting what you actually want. Will not be visting again. Very over rated restuarant. The one saving grace was that they did not charge us. Toby saw us leaving but made no attempt to find out what the problem was.

We visited the Dining Room Friday 20th Oct 06 and were looking forward to a fantastic meal. We were ushered to the upper bar, enjoyed a couple of drinks in excellent surroundings and chose the Tasting Menu which is 2 starters, 2 mains, dessert, and a different wine with each dish. Cost per head £72. We expected to be well fed with excellent food. Service was by eastern europeans which was ok but they were not very amenable. First dish was a small single stuffed date - laughable. Second dish was a single scallop - still hungry and getting drunk third and fourth dishes - the mains - had 2 items each on them!! Dessert was not much bigger. We left hungry after spending £180 for food which was good but not fantastic and frankly felt cheated. When I wrote to them I received no reply. My advice is go to La Barbe in Reigate if you want a hearty enjoyable meal from friendly staff and want to have a fond memory. This is just a fashion food place for a quick buck.

Lunch for 3 on 20th March 2006. Bad start - our waiter had no idea what two items on the menu were. That said, pleasant service. First course brought to the table barely warm after a wait of 25 minutes ..... very nearly sent back. Main course better. Food quality overall decidely average and far short of the standard expected from Mr Tobin. Frozen french fries hardly a high note and gooey, overcooked parsnips quite unpleasant. Desserts priced at £7.95 and not by any means out of the ordinary. All in all a big, big disappointment.

The lunchtime menu was excellent value for money. It was beautifully cooked and presented - a painting on a plate! Surroundings were lovely. Good wines too.
