First trip back to the Trouble House after a few years. Previous visit was just OK.
This time........ excellent! Nice warm atmosphere, friendly staff. First courses were very good- the crab gratinee and mackerel on toast. Main courses were an EXCEPTIONAL, my beef and 6X pie, beautifully cooked and presented.
Deserts, creme brulee and ginger sponge were voted historic!
3 courses + 1 bottle of wine and an extra glass came to £71 for two.
Very good value and an excellent evening.

Have been fortunate to have dined there on a few occassions. Have always found the quality of food to be of an exceptionally high standard.Shall be returning soon enough, keep up the good work.

The food here is as good as I have found outside of London, really fantastic. I really couldn't find fault. The staff were also warm and friendly and the service was attentive without being intrusive. Maybe it took a while for the new owner to settle in or something - I don't understand why anyone could feel shortchanged here.

Nothing else to say but good food, great service and nice atmosphere. Never been disapointed and I'll be back.

Had a reservation for two Saturday and was not disappointed. Food was top class. To start we had Foie Gras Parfait and scallops . Both excellent. The Foie Gras was decadent without being too creamy. Scallops and ginger really worked well together . For main we had the rib eye steaks which again was excellent and perfectly cooked. To finish praline parfait with raspberry sauce beautifully presented and again excellent to taste.
Thoroughly recommended.

Excellent food, we could not fault the quality or the amount. I do not know what the other people who wrote the reviews have eaten there, maybe they mixed up the venues.
The open fires gave a warm cosy atmosphere to a cold winters evening. The restaurant was busy which does not support the negative reviews. I read them and was put off going and tried else where, luckily they were fully booked so I kept my booking at this restaurant and I have no regrets. I would recommend the Trouble House Inn to other people and we will visit again soon.

we tried it after the change of management, food was ok but disappointing for the price. Starters were nice. Steak (tough)was served with approx 1 tablespoon of bearnaise sauce, when we asked for more we were offered ketchup!! Flies everywhere - could have done with a bit of fly spray. The dining experience was not at all good, by 10pm on a Friday evening our conversation was drowned out by the clattering of dishes being washed up, and tables being scrubbed around us, by 10.30 we felt so uncomfortable, and so aware that we were keeping the staff from going home, that we called our taxi to collect us early. Called today to give feedback to manager - VERY rude, did not want to hear what we had to say, said he was not going to apologise as it was our opinion. For over £60 per head we'd expect more... There are far better places to eat in the area that deserve the business.

Eaten at the Trouble House 3 times in the last 12 months. Standards have continued to fall.
Last week last straw!
Oven Chips with the steak and Crab Shell in the starter. Chef's comment: "Its a risk of eating fresh seafood"
We will not return
