live locally and have just been for a meal with a friend. Lovely looking building but ends there. Was served warm white wine and told there is no ice. Food mediochre, dessert awful. The menu was nothing like the one advertised on the website. After the meal was told we could only have instant coffee Yuk! so didn't bother. There were two other people in the dining room with us and when they left we were alone, then retired to the bar afterwards where there was us two, whole place seemed deserted. Will not be going back, I have emailed them to tell them I think their website is misleading.

Noticed Phils review was very different to the previous one. After making a few enquiries i discovered why, he just happens to be married to the owner. Shame on you both for trying to dupe your guests.

Teaninich castle is a very charming place with a lot off history to it, we stayed a couple of nights and found the staff very freindly and welcomeing which was nice the food and choice on there menu was excellent, i could stronly recomend this hotel for a short break or romantic weekend, you get free champange and chocolates with the four poster rooms,

This is an awful hotel and I would strongly suggest you do not use it. Where do I start ? – Firstly we arrived at the hotel at lunch time and whilst I appreciate we were early, we were travelling by train so we needed to check in. When we arrived the place was deserted – I tried for some 15 minutes to find someone but gave up and just sat and waited – Eventually a lady did come to reception (I think she was the owner) and was surprised to see us – At this point we seemed to be treated like a problem rather than welcomed as customers – She showed us to a room ! which was tatty and only had a shower, so I asked if we could have a room with a bath which she did agree to reluctantly. This room was “slightly” better, but hardly what I would call “luxury”. The TV was old and small, the TV reception was awful, the towels hard and old etc.. We booked in for an evening meal – as the web site suggested the food would be great – We went to eat at 6.30pm and were the only customers (the whole place felt lonely and abandoned). The menu looked good, but the dining room was freezing, I could not see any heating and the big open fire place was not being used. The food was OK, but not great and not worth the price. Breakfast – We went down to breakfast at 8.15am and again were the only people there – again no staff to be seen anywhere (I wish I knew where they hide) – So we helped ourselves to orange juice and cereal. Then after 10 mins a women appeared from the kitchen and bellowed “Doyous want tea or coffee !” Not one word of hello, welcome etc… - very rude ! – We both had full cooked breakfast, which was very poor. On the second morning I asked for smoked salmon and scrambled egg (which was on the menu in the room), but was told no - but I could have smoked haddock & scrambled egg ! – it was awful !). The room servicing was poor as well, no tea / coffee was replenished and some towels were just taken away, the bins were not emptied etc.. Overall the quality of this hotel is poor and the service is even worse – They simply cannot be bothered – Please do not stay here !
