We have just had the hottest July on record. Although this week was cooler, the wind in general was not extreme. However: 1)The site was EXTREMELY exposed to the elements. There was NO prior warning of this to the campers. Our holiday was cut short from 7 to 3 days due to our tent getting ripped, and blown away. When we disposed of it in the bins (which by-the-way, were overflowing throughout the holiday) there were at least 3 other tents clearly ruined by the wind. There was no staff assistance while most of the 50 or so people with tents on our field were struggling to keep their tents pegged down. 2)Very poor non-welcoming reception on arrival. 3)Poor shower/ toilet facilities. 4)Expensive shop which was cleaning up selling overpriced extra pegs that were required due to the weather conditions on this site. In general a disasterous holiday - this site is more suited to the camper van and static caravans rather than tents. A polite pre -warning that this site can be affected more than average by winds should have taken place - tents should not be invited to this site.
