I worked in gyms from the age of 18 to 25. I and a group of freinds were keen weight trainers and into a wide variety of sports some conventional and some of the more extreme nature. Now at 41 I am still active and can honestly say that Fitness First Fleet is probably the worst Gym I have ever been a member of. Was always dirty, either overcrowded or zero atmosphere. In 3 years I don't think a member of staff took an interest in my fitness programme or even spoke to me as I wasn't a young girl or aging femme fatal. The facilities i.e steam room / sauna etc were nearly always broken for one reason or another. The membership constantly increased seemingly mth on mth and the toilet areas stank. As for the management at head office they were rude and disinterested and trying to cancel a membership was like trying to escape from a prison camp. After 3 mths of personally cancelling a membership and 3 visits later to confirm we no longer needed to pay any fees we are still receiving theatening letters from collection agencies in reference to unpaid membership fees. Avoid like the plague!!!!

Called to arrange non membership use of the gym for 1 week for a business associate visiting the UK from the US. Hotel facilities at present are undergoing refurbishment, was looking to arrange use of local facilities though £10.00 to use the gym I believe is very expensive.
