This was our second visit to Alvaston Hall Hotel. The accomodation was first class ( we stayed in a Royale room) The food and entertainment was superb, and the staff could not have been more helpful. We played bowls, croquet,we tried archery and rifle shooting and these facilities are all free. Overall a great Easter break. We've booked again for a long week-end next October.

We had our first and last Warners holiday at Alvaston Hall - If you opened the window and the wind was in the right direction you could smell the chicken farm. Food was awful out of the four nights we were there we ate out for three of them. Staff were surly and the entertainment insulting to the intelligence. NEVER AGAIN

The only accomodation that was available when we booked was the Standard Room which we expected to be OK considering the £240 price tag. This included two nights, Breakfast and an evening meal.
I spent about 10 minutes in the room before we decided we had made a mistake! The room was very tired, paint was peeling from the roof, the shower had mould on it, cob webs from the roof and the window latches were falling off. Not what I would expect for the price we paid.
To compound this, it was a themed 60's weekend so it was no good for anybody under the age of 50. The noise coming from one of the function rooms was unbearable so we decided to go back to reception and ask for a refund.
The hotel does not give an instant refund, instead you have to wait two weeks for Head Office to process your request!
In summary: If you want an w/e away with quality accomodation then dont go here, choose Crewe Hall up the road, for the price the rooms are 100 times better then here.
