I took part in a tour of the manor house.. What an experience!! The house itself is superb, but what made the tour so unforgettable were the 'tour guides' and the staff - all in costume and sticking absolutely to the fact that we had been 'transported' back to 1645. The humour with which the tour was conducted had us in stiches, the knowledge of the guides can only be applauded.. I can wholeheartedly recomend a visit for all age groups. We will be attending a christmas story evening tonight.. If past experience is anything to go by - it will be well worth the journey!

I stayed at Llancaiach Fawr Manor back in 1997 when I worked for a local radio station. We were doing a live link from the manor and at the very start we entered the building the sky was clear. When we went to do a live broadcast 30 minutes later outside the Manor the sky was full of mist along with very little radio reception. Whilst entering the building, a colleague and myself went into the kitchen and we both heard the song "The most beutiful girl in the world" song by Charlie Rich. Only myself and my colleague heard this tune - and none of the others did! how very strange! We then carried on our investigation into the night when we were asleep in the bedroom (not for long I must add) where the cot has been known to rock back and forth. I was sleeping in the middle (just incase any ghosts came and got me) and my colleague slept on the outside and whilst retiring for bed, he put his watch on the floor next to him. About 2am in the morning, we heard all sorts of strange things going on and when we woke (although we were just nodding off) his watch flew to the other end of the room and was glowing!!! How can anyone explain that?? I will never forget the experience of my investigation whilst doing a live broadcast at the Llancaiach Fawr Manor. Carmen Golten-Matthews
