I booked this resaurant for my mums 50th birthday meal after reading good reviews about it. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing. I had filled out a preorder as there was going to be about 30 of us. But the starters took about a hour to come - with my son being the last who had ordered garlic bread! They did not ask people how they wanted their steaks cooked and so people were sending undercooked steaks back and having to wait for a second one to be cooked. For a three course meal it took 3 hours!!! My mum had to leave her desert because our taxi was waiting. We are still waiting for a deposit that was paid that they said they would refund as the lady had to go into hospital. The whole thing was a joke. Will not be returning.

We have been regulars of this restaurant for some time now and this was our first, and last, visit under the new owners. Oh dear! From the intrusively loud R & B background music to the service which amounted to little more than taking the order and presenting the bill, this was just unacceptable. On a plus side the starters were good; however the main course of badly undercooked, and cold, duck, served on plates barely above room temperature, was dire. This was followed by a pancake which could have come direct from Tescos filled with half a dozen cherries which tasted like they were fresh out of a can. All accompanied by a red house wine served at about 'fridge temperature (note to new owner - red wines tend to taste of something if served at about room temperature). At a few pence under £30/head excl. wine, this was not value for money. We will not be back.

Having booked a table for 2 we were seated in an alcove beside another table which was roughly 2 feet away. This amounted to sharing a table for four with two complete strangers. No condiments were on the table For starters my partner ordered " Paris style garlic prawns ", and I ordered " moules marinieres". Had either of the resultant dishes actually been served in Paris I feel that someone would have been dusting off the Guillotine ! The prawns were of the type which you can buy frozen in any supermarket, hardly bigger than a shrimp.The sauce was watery with hardly a hint of garlic and contained no discernable seasoning. The salad consisted of a few dry leaves with no dressing, and no dressing was offered. The moules marinieres consisted of over cooked mussels, raw onion, and a sauce where the cream had separated out. Again, no hint of seasoning. The service was mediocre, and definately not attentive. We were not asked once whether the food was enjoyable. And they didn't seem too interested when I pointed out how poor the food was. Consequently, we felt no choice but to leave in the middle of the starter. Just in case anyone thinks I make a habit of leaving restaurants mid meal I'd like to point out that I have never left a restaurant before during a meal, never mind during a starter! I was just concerned about what we might get served next. The whole experience was one of disappointment. I really thought this sort of performance had disappeared from restaurants in England. In the interest of balance, the bread rolls were excellent.
