I was very disappointed with what remains of the abbey and what has basically turned into a 18th century Christian church, complete with taped chanting playing in the background, claimed recovered altar stone and graveyard.
There are much better abbey remains at free to visit Egglestone Abbey and, more serene and much less spoiled Roche Abbey.
Don't waste your time, or £5.50 parking fee, to visit what remains of Bolton Abbey.

When I was a child living in Bramley, Leeds 13, I was often taken to Bolton Abbey, and I was always the one to fall-in.!
However, years later with a son and daughter we often made a visit to "the stones" and Beverley, my daughter was the only to get wet. I am wondering if her children living here in Canada, would behave the same way if they had a Yorkshire Visit sometime.?
