Don't go. The woman who should have been serving us was so overbearing, rude and arrogant we left without eating, despite having driven from Manchester to get there. The most miserable eating experience this century.

pub looked nice and we thought it would be 'child friendly' as it had a playground & children's menu. On arrival, we had to get a drink & sit down & wait while they sorted a table. (We had rung beforehand, asking to reserve a table, but the landlady told us that we couldn't pre-book). The table that we found to have our drinks was just right for us, being near the exit (for the playground) so we asked a member of staff if we could stay there to eat - we were told that would be fine. However, the landlady then came up and told us that we would have to move as she would be getting the table we were sitting at ready for someone else! (Which suggests that it had been reserved - odd!). The table she said we had to use was too small for our party and very inconveniently placed. When we mentioned this, the landlady just shrugged her shoulders & then pulled a face! We then left, which we have never done before. It is a pity as the other staff were very pleasant, although the service was extremely slow.

We drove to Derby for the Weel Dressing and came across the Grouse and Claret whilst looking for suitable accommodation.
What a pleasant surprise. The bedroom was very clean, the bed very comfortable and the shower was great.
All the staff were wonderful, thoughtful and eager to help.
We were impressed at the different nationalities employed there.
The meals were excellent, which was confirmed by the large nuber of people who came to eat.
Please convey our thanks to all the staff for helping us have a great short holiday in an excellent situation.
