I spent a long weekend in Cavendish recently and visited the Bull Inn on several occasions. Paul and Lynn, transplanted Londoners, are delightful hosts. They have a friendly pub and an excellent restaurant. I enjoyed the classic fish (done with a beer batter, crispy but light), chips, and peas for a lunch and had roasted partridge for a dinner. At least one game dish always seems to be featured. One of the best dishes on the menu is the tomato soup (made with no cream) with a hearty flavor but not heavy. Desserts are delicious. The wine selection is extensive; go with Paul's recommendations. Be sure to check the daily specials board above the fireplace.
Numerous beers are available; the Bull Inn is an Adnam's pub. However, my favorite was Nethergate (made literally a few miles away), which Paul also serves.
Overall, a superb pub and restaurant with reasonable prices.
