My 93 year old Dad has lived in this area all his life. He's now in residential care, so a trip to the Ship Inn at Dunwich was supposed to be a treat. He loves sausage and chips, so that's what we ordered. What we got was an apology for the fine sausages produced in this part of Suffolk, famed for its pork production. A uniform tube of "luncheon meat" coated in batter! The chips were nice but the salad garnish looked distinctly tired with dry carrot sticks, quarter inch thick chunks of cucumber and wilted lettuce. I waited 15 minutes at the bar to complain but in that time, the barman managed to serve just 3 customers.
Next time, we'll go to the cafe near the beach and have fine fish and chips!
