I was extremely disappointed with this place. They advertised themselves as having large screen TV coverage of the men's finals at wimbledon; this was the only reason I went there as I do not bother to keep a TV. When I arrived I let the barmaid/waitress know that this was the purpose of my visit. At that point the TV was on with the sound off and so I asked her "Are you going to show Wimbledon with the sound on?" She smilingly confirmed this and so I ordered a roast dinner and a pint. Whilst waiting for my food the screen scrambled several times in the space of a few minutes. I went to ask her if she was aware of the problem and she assured me it would soon be fixed. Then, when my food arrived she apologised and told me there was nothing they could do. The first ball was yet to be hit and I was looking at a plate of unappetizing food in a pub that had no clear reception. I let her know that I wasn't satisfied and that the only reason I'd come there or ordered a dinner was to see the match and she essentially repeated her apology and walked away. As she left I said to her "well, I'd appreciate a free drink or something!" To which she did not reply and simply returned to the bar. I had a bite of the food and thought to myself "what am I doing sitting here eating this crap and missing the match and that woman was just extremely rude to me!" So I got up and left and told the barmaid on the way out that the food was very bad too and I was going somewhere else. I went to another pub where I ate and watched the match and then realised that I had actually paid in advance for the previous meal and beer. So I went back there and talked to the manager about what had happened. Although he did eventually refund me my money, he did so in a rudely dismissive manner as though I was being a difficult customer and defended his waitress by claiming that the TV was fine as soon as I left and had had no problems and that she was not a TV expert and therefore could not be expected to promise or deliver that the reception would be good. When I pointed out that he had advertised his place as a location from which to watch Wimbledon he relented and gave me back my money but not before making disparaging remarks about how it was "only a tenner" (it was about 13 quid actually) and how "tennis was a boring game anyway". I do not think that a person with this attitude should advertise their venue as a place from which to view Wimbledon and lure members of the public into ordering food and drinks under the impression that this is a true promise. I give this place a major thumbs down: revolting food and creepy management.

I asked the barmaid to top my pint up as it was well short, she was ready to do so but the ignorant geodie manager shouted to me that I had a full pint, how he could see was beyond me as he was standing atthe other end of the bar.
He said the marks on the glass indicating a pint were just a guide.
Avoid the palce as there are some decnetpubs very close.

Dared to suggest to the landlord that with the front door propped wide open was creating a cold draft for some of his customers, was told if you don't like it 'theres the door', dont go there if you expect a friendly landlord, he MUST be the most miserable ignorant landlord in brighton, he has absloutely no regard for his patrons.
