We have eaten many times at this restaurant, and would go so far as saying it was our favourite......up until this visit. To be fair the last time we visited, we thought it had declined to be average, but this time it was plain unacceptable, and the sparse restaurant was testimony to its decline. Physically, the room is starting to look tired, and the staff are unenthusiastic and inattentive. Jaded service and management who swan around avoiding eye-contact, set the tone. The food was expensive, over cooked and greasy - almost £12 for fish and chips which would have disgraced a takeaway. Vegetables were soggy and limp. The whole experience was pretty dreadful. A sad day for us and we will probably never eat there again.

It was terrible from start to end. We walked into the pub, only one table was occupied and we got left standing at the bar and told the manager would be 2 mins. He did not arrive so we seated ourselves. We then had to ask the waitress to take our order as she did not come to our table. We both ordered a sandwich and a large glass of wine each (which was disgustingly expensive for house wine- there was a wine on the menu which was £13.90 for one glass!!!) and then a few minutes later, the manager then told us that we should not be sitting in the restaurant area as we were only eating a sandwich. The waitress did not tell us this when we ordered but he said was OK to sit there as they were quiet. Whilst we were waiting for our sandwiches, other people who arrived after us had been given their lunches. A couple sitting at a table next to us got an apology for the delay, we did not. My boyfriend asked (after 45 minutes of waiting) about our food to be told it would be "2 minutes" - it was not 2 minutes so I told the waitress we wanted to pay for our drinks and leave. At that point the manager heard and came over and started to charge me £10 for the 2 glasses of wine, I told him the service was terrible and he said in a sarcastic tone "I know there is a delay in the kitchen but dont know what it is". I asked him why we had not had an apology and he did not answer my question. I told him we should be offered our drinks complimentary and he said "you have consumed the drinks", which we had not fully, what did he expect after waiting 45 minutes? we were driving so could therefore consume no more alcohol and because he did not want other people in the pub hearing, he said "do you know what" and slapped my payment card back in my hand. At no point whatsoever did he apologise for anything. We would definately warn people about going here. Oh and forgot to mention, it was stifingly hot in there even though there were several air conditioning units in there which were NOT on, obviously a ploy to make you buy more of their very over priced drink. We had to keep nipping outside for fresh air. DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE. We drove for 45 minutes to get to this place and do not appreciate the service
