Reviews of Snow Goose, Inverness

I was on holiday from Cornwall visiting family and we decided to eat at the Snow Goose. We were a party of eight, four adults and four children ages 10 – 13 and went for an early dinner at the Snow Goose. The service was good and the food was reasonable and the prices are what you would expect from a pub menu. The main problem with our dining experience was the Manager Karen, at the end of the meal the children went off to the toilet and came back and we decided to exit the place through the fire door next to our table, which had been in constant use all night by the waiting staff and I had on more than one occasion was forced to get up from our table and close the door myself. The staff were also using their feet to open the door which didn’t make for a relaxing atmosphere. At the end of the meal the Manager came storming over and insisted we do not use the fire door and accused our children of running around the restaurant and this was not acceptable behaviour. The children had behaved impeccably all night and are very accustomed to dining out and we have never received any complaints before. We had spent a considerable amount of money in the restaurant and when coming to pay the bill we requested an explanation from the Manager about her aggressive attitude towards our party, the main reason for choosing the Snow Goose is the fact it is a family restaurant but we were bluntly informed they are ‘child tolerant’ not ‘child friendly’ and we received no further apology or explanation for her behaviour.
I find it hard to believe that we had a complaint from Karen the Manager for using a door the staff had been kicking open all evening and accused of behaviour that was completely untrue, but the main reason for my complaint is her outrageous attitude towards us the ‘paying customer’. Any parent will know when dining out with your children and you are spending a lot of money, you expect the same level of service and consideration for your children as you would yourself. We will never eat in the Snow Goose again as long as ‘Karen’ is still the Manager.

all in all i would recommend this place for its food. its not very expensive, and meals are worth it.
the only thing that i did not enjoy, was the fact that for some reson we could not make reservations-even though we were 100% sure that about 20 of us will come for a dinner. weve been told that we will be able to find a place to sit without any problems, but naturally once we came it turned out that half of our "group" had to be placed on the other side of the pub-which obviously sucked...
for some reason i felt as if we were not treated as seriously as we would like to be-id say that maybe we were / are too young to be treated as people who are ready to pay good money for a meal?
maybe it was just our bad luck-hard to say.
to sum things up:
food: 9/10
service: 7/10
(though some of the waitresses are very "nice" ;) )

We have now been here many times and we shall return again next visit to Inverness. It's an excellent place to promote such a lovely city and it serves the most no nonsense meals around at affordable prices. Nice work Snow Goose please keep it up, you are well worth the trip north to sample such hospitality from true Scottish Folks.

Been here several times, beautiful when the log fires and candles are burning.
They don't take bookings so there can be a queue early evenings (weekeneds) as its located next to the large Retail Park. Worth waiting.
Fab food, friendly service. Difficult to drag urself out of the place because its so cosy X

A most excellent location, wonderful venue, staff were very helpful and obliging.
Our meal was easily worth the money, and the smile and humour of the staff added greatly to the experience.
We would definetely recommend this venue to anyone visiting Inverness.
We especially loved the outdoor chimnea and its little notice.
