My wife and I have shopped in the Rotherham markets for around 50 years and particularly kike the outdoor market where we shop most Mondays. This type of market has atmosphere with the shouts of traders taking us back to the markets of our youth. However, it saddens me that today, when this type of market is fighting for survival, that some traders still carry on the old practices of displaying good quality fruits at the front of the stall, but putting inferior fruits in the bag, and one trader has short weighted me so often I no longer buy from him.
Today, in a purchase of 10 apples, 3 were soft and shrivelled, don't these people realise they are killing their own jobs by such practices?
I can shop on Worksop market and select the produce I want, and my random weight checks have
not shown short measure.
Please tell them that that in 2008 even we old shoppers can change our routines, I would not like to see the old market die.
