A lovely site, very spacious pitches, toilets and showers very clean, fresh flowers in the ladies and free use of hair-dryer. Dogs are also welcome here there's a lovely dog walking area and cow field at the top end of the site with fabulous views. I imagine it would be difficult to get a pitch in the sunny season. We stayed Saturday afternoon until Sunday afternoon, we walked to the nearest pub The Tavern(1 miles)in anticipation of a pie and a pint but was turned away as they didn't allow dogs so, we then walked a little further to the Royal Oak at Tansley again to be told the same, eventually after 3 miles we found the lovely Red Lion at Lumsdale which was a fabulous place, very welcoming and friendly, children friendly and DOG friendly it has a large T.V in the bar area and a lovely roaring fire in the lounge. Walking back to Lickpenny in the dark was a little scary to say the least with only half the distance having a footpath, make sure you take your torch!!! The only way to improve is as a dog friendly site it what would be helpful to have a list of local or nearby pubs that are also dog friendly plus buses and local taxi services numbers just in case.... Annoyingly on return I've searched the web and apparently 'The Gate' is a short way around the corner down the lane from The Tavern - better the devil you know hey.. But what a lovely site well worth a visit! :) 4****

Brilliant! This is th eonly word you need to hear about the site, it is exceptionally clean and the staff make every effort to make your visit special, the pitches are spacious and well kept, plenty of space for dog walking. I cannot praise Lickpenny enough, we will continue to spend our available weekends on this site throughout 2011.

This was our very first camping experience, our first time towing and what a great place to start, the whole site is immaculate, the pitches were huge and well screened for privacy, I was thrilled at the immaculate showers and toilets. The scenery is wonderful and so close the matlock, buxton and bakewell. The staff are friendly and they do an excellent job of keeping the whole site safe and clean. Lots of dogs where visible with owners, but on leads and cleaned any mess up afterwards. We did however upset one of the owners, by having visitors and not understaning the rules, was told off (sternly) however Pam in the office is wonderful and very friendly. Well done Lickpenny. We will certainly be visiting again.

This site is by far the best we have ever stayed at.. The facilities are immaculate, lots of hot water and no extra charges for hair dryer. The site is really pretty each pitch has ample space for the van, awning and the car and are all enclosed with hedges making them really private. Very friendly and helpful staff too. We would return here with no hesitation.

We have been caravanning for 20 years at least and we both agreed that Lickpenny was superior in every way to most, if not all, of the sites we have used both here and abroad. The colours of the leaves in Autumn were spectacular as were the views and the facilities were excellent. Yes..great Hues, Views and Loos
