Five of us visited this course as part of a weekend away. As we are all fairly new to golf, we found the course interesting and challenging, and apart from the road noise had no complaints about the course.
Sadly, the same can't be said about the course Marshall! and some the fellow players. As we are quite new to the game, we did make a mistake. We forgot to rake the sand in the bunkers. A word of friendly advice would have sufficed, but no he had it in for us!. At every oppotunity in the first few holes he had a go at us in a unpleasent way about any small detail, despite the fact we were letting faster players through so doing our best not to hold other players up. It ruined the day sadly and we certainly wouldn't recommend any new players to this course. There was a real feeling of 'You are not a member or a regular player, you have made some mistakes, so you are not welcome.' It's the first time we have experienced this attitude at any golf course so far, and hopefully the last. We are all mild mannered middle aged men, but the petty attitude from the Marshall and some of his 'buddies' on the course was enough to wind anyone up, and it did sadly. We were 120 miles from home, and are just pleased that our local golf course has a friendly and welcoming approach that couldn't be more opposite to the Lexton Wood experience.
