Being new to the area we had called in at two golf clubs before finding the West Suffolk Golf Centre. We were made most welcome and proceeded to play the 18 hole course which is quite challenging, but also most interesting, with a number of different species of wild birds around the course. After 18 holes we called into the clubhouse and enjoyed home-cooked gammon and chips. We have taken details of the different types of membership and will definitely going back to play regulary, probably as members. It was well worth our search for a good course and friendly people and we look forward to our next visit.

I found the course playing well for the time of year even though the rain had dampend most of the sporting facilities.
I had a warm welcome and the club house stocked with what I needed.
The course played long due to the prevailing winds, and the greens were in good shape.
The value for money was good as where can you get 4 hours of enjoyment for £10.
Take time to apreciate what is good in life no road noise and plenty of fresh air.
A good day was had and I have payed more for less.

I visited the club recently to find it teaming with enthusiastic youngsters under the guidance of the resident pro. Well done West Suffolk and Duncan for introducing so many young people to the game - and they clearly enjoy it!

Situated at the start of the fens this delightful pay and play course started 12 years ago as a driving range.
Little by little it developed from three holes to five to nine and during 2000 a further three hole were added. Although only twelve holes, the course is designed to be played in three six hole loops. Surprisingly an 18 hole round at West Suffolk measures 6499 yards which is longer than some of the more established clubs in East Anglia.
The playing 18 holes the par 72 has some great feature holes. The stroke index one hole is a 575yard par 5 double dog-leg over a ditch. When the prevailing wind is blowing it takes three mighty blows to get anywhere close.
Hole ten sets a real challenge, if you hit the ball long enough you can clear a waterway strategically placed 200 yards from the tee. If you lay up you are left with a tough long iron to a green that is protected by yet another well situated waterway. The hole measures 407 yards.
West Suffolk Golf Centre is a welcoming place; you can pay and play the course for £10.00 per day week days for 18 holes or £13 per day. Weekends/ Bank Holidays.
Societies and small groups are welcome and there is a full snack menu is available in the Denny Barnes Golf Lounge.

I had a great day out at West Suffolk Golf Centre this weekend .
The greens were fantastic for the time of year. All the members say that these are the best they have ever been
The staff in the clubhouse and out on the course could not have been more helpful.
The professional Duncan Abbott was one of the best teaching pro's that I have ever met
We would highly recomend the West Suffolk Golf Centre Its ideal for the beginner or a great test for the accomplished golfer.

Hmm, what to say, well where do we start, on arival you are welcomed by very few signs to guide you towards the club house, which would be far better suited to a failing holiday camp than a so called golf club. On entering the staff resembed those i would have expected to see at a failed butlins training centre, far from par should we say. Then in to the pro shop, or lean to depending on how you want to look at it to be met by a small selection of unusualy branded clubs, most of which im sure were sources from a car boot sale in some far away land. Green fees are similar to those paid by a non member visiting my regular club with me, so you would expect a similar quality of course... this is where the disappointment really kicks in. Having played at england level this is by far the strangest course I have ever played, with rules that would seem somewhat obsered at even the most prestigious of courses, like no practice warm up swings to be taken.surely this is important to avoid injury and to assist with the perfect tee shot, if you can decifer which flag you are to aim towards, if you can see the flag at all! the tee area are well fenced off so are in ok condition, sadly the fairway seems a little worse for wear, with one hole seemingly missing most of the fair bit and would be better to have been known as the mud way.grass cutting also hamper play where there had been grass. then off to the greens, which are marked with a thick white line for some reason and are a little balding in places. They play exceptionaly slow, expect to aim to putt twice as hard as you would on any other course to make the distance if ever you are unfortunate enough to play here, i can guarentee i will never be foolish enough to do this again.
