As me and my hubby were visiting Stokesley we decided to go to the queens for a spot of lunch,we ordered food and had to wait just over an hour for our lunch as like the other reviews we would have walked out if we hadnt of paid.We found that eating our lunch was like a school lunch hall as a young screaming child made lots of noise we couldnt hear ourselfs think, but one regular mentioned it was like a kindergarten at night with the landladys grandchildren. And the staff certainly have attitude and appearence issuses.Certainly wouldnt go back in there , pastys next time we visit.

My self and family(2 young children) went for lunch at the queens head . I have to say that it was fantastic. The staff where kind helpfull and went out of there way to help me with my children. 1 member of staff even took my children to the beer garden that backs on to the river and let them feed the ducks. They went out of there way to be kind and considerate. The food was fantastic all of which was home made.I have looked at the reviews of this pub and i have to say that the new owners from october 2009 have worked wonders with the place. It is very clean and the staff very welcoming. Flys? i didnt have any problems didnt see any . I would recommend this pub to all familys . I even sent other family mambers there on a night out to see the beer pigs they had a great time and have now become regulars there. All i can add is that this pub is worth visiting, you may have a slight wait at busy times for food but its fresh and its not a mac donalds drive through. So go and try it,we will be going again . Well done and it is very nice to have such a good family and traditional pub in the area which is hard to find .A real gem.

I work as a support worker with adults with learning difficulties and on Fridays regularly take a lady in her seventies out shopping. This particular day we were in Stokesley and decided to have lunch at the Queens Head. Although the food was adequate for the price we paid it was impossible to enjoy our meals as we spent the entire time having to shoo away the flies that were continuously landing on our food. My friend is a rather slow eater and was becoming very distressed that she constantly had flies crawling over her food. Eventually she was so upset that I took her barely eaten meal to the bar to complain to the barmaid. She took the meal away and said she would ask her boss to come and see me. After a considerable wait a woman came out to see me and before I could explain she immediately started telling me that she was not prepared to give my friend a refund as there was nothing wrong with the food. I asked her if she considered if food with flies crawling over it had nothing wrong with it and she told me there was nothing they could do about the flies. I was frankly appalled by the attitude of the staff which resulted in my client paying for a meal which was inedible and, as a result, having to go without her lunch. I realise that in the middle of summer there are always going to be a few flies around but this pub has a serious problem and was clearly infested. It is hard to believe that they were all coming in from outside. I find it hard to believe that we will have been the first of their customers to have experienced the disgusting conditions that we encountered that day. This pub should not be serving food to the public until they find the source of the infestation and deal with it. I would strongly advise anyone thinking of eating this establishment to go elsewhere. Not just because of the flies but because of the impolite and uncaring attitude of the staff. I have informed Trading Standards and the Environmental Health department of our experience.

bank holiday.stokesone of my favourite places but when we went for a meal at the queens head I was so upset with the service it will be a long time til we visit agian. We ordered a simple lunch of burger salad and chips, after a half hour wait I ask how long and was told not long. After an hour we where still waiting no apolige and if we had not paid we would have walked out, then when it arrived after 1 hour 10minutes it was incomplete the mushrooms were missing I give up. A couple came in as we were being served but when I told them how long we waited the went to the pub up the road.

A goup of 12 of us from Hull (men & women) ended up in this pub on Saturday 21/07 and I can say that the landlady & staff were the most friendly people we have come across, we had a great laugh. They made us feel more than welcome and at the end of the night after trying unsuccessfully to get us taxis back to our hotel in Upsall the landlady's partner drove some of us back to the hotel. I'm not sure if it's 'child' friendly as it was night time. Thanks again.

Being from the area originally I knew the reputation of this pub. Recently moved back and was reliably informed that it had turned the corner in the last few years so decided to give it a chance. Behaviour was laddish, very audible comments were offensive and the swearing gratuitous. The indifference of the staff seemed to condone it all. Basically its a no-go pub as far as families are concerned. What a shame as the town is lovely and there are so few pubs.

The worst service I have ever experienced in a public house with a nasty atmosphere. The staff are extremely rude and discriminate against customers who do not fit in with their usual clientele.
