Delightful landlord and landlady, who very kindly made me some supper, despite the fact that they do not normally serve food on Wednesday evening. I was desperate for something to eat, as the place I was staying in (along the road) did not serve the type of food I had hoped for.
Beautiful bar, as well as exterior - very inviting. I would stay there if I was in the area again.
Many thanks!

Have just spent 2 weeks in the Daleside Arms, lovely old pub with brilliant Landlady and Landlord, excellent beer, the food is even better.
Was treated as a member of the family, rather than a resident.
So so friendly, and well worth a visit.
Highly recommended.

Really friendly service, booking advisable and when you try the food you'll see why. Rice cooked to perfection, home made chips (and plenty of them), and expertly prepared dishes. I had the beef in pepper sauce which consisted of 2 huge slices of freshly roasted beef. You could taste the flavour of the fresh cream. It was delicious. My husband tried the spicy beef strips with jalapenos. It said on the menu that it was the hottest in the north east, and I am in no doubt that it was. However he did manage to eat it and said that it was delicious... I just took his word for it!!! Well done Michael and Sandra.... I have never found fault in one of your meals yet!

A chance search on the internet to find a pub that did accommodation near Bishop Auckland and what a great little find. We have visited twice now and look forward to going back again soon. Such a friendly little place that you can't help but feel at home within minutes. We had a double on-suite and really appreciated the little extras like the toothbrush in case you had forgotten yours. The food was very good, in particular Michael's 'specials' but make sure you feel hungry when you sit down! And make sure you leave space for a drink in the bar afterwards because you will soon be chatting to the very friendly locals.
