not open. according to it's own web site it opens on mondays during school holidays. Not open on tuesday 13th april eather. Not very good business practice as I am sure they can get plenty of time off during the winter months.
Several car loads did the same thing at around 7pm on Monday.
We were welcomed at the Red Lion in Hawkeshead and they were having to turn people away. Some lessons to be learnt.
The fact we booked into the Grizedale camp site because of it's location, a walk to the pub, the Eagles Head and Grizedale camp site will not be getting my business again.

Hello, being home again I remembered the wonderful time at the Force Mill Farm with Ann and John Barker and my first evening in Eagles Head with my friend Jean Uebelmann . She is born in
Pennybridge and we had a nice time, wonderful meals and a very relaxing atmoshere at Eagles Head.Really enjoyable and I decided: I come back!
And at this first evening at Eagles Head I heard this unforgettable CD with the title: "Beautiful Embrace."
I tried to get this CD at Birmingham - no chance, at Dover - no chance and now, back in Germany, I tried it with amazon- no chance.
Now my question: is it eventually possible, to put this CD on an empty one???
If yes, I would send you an empty one!
Please excuse my bad English, but I hope you can understand .
Best wishes and many thanks from Germany

We stayed at the bowkerstead farm for a bit of camping and go ape. we spent the last night at the eagles head. what a fantastic meal and such a relaxing atmosphere. my brother in law and I had the duck and it was cooked to perfection, (you would be surprised how many overcook a duck!!) The staff were ever so helpful and accommodating. You do need to book in advance but we were a table of 10 and there were no problems whatsoever. Really enjoyable, on our list of going back!

We have been to Satterthwaite many times over the years, although a small village it has a superb pub called The Eagles Head. The food and welcome are second to none and this is certainly a hidden gem.
