We have a friend in Swaddlingcote whom we visit a couple of times a year, sometimes we get b&b sometimes we stay at hers. This was our first stay at the Bulls head...and it WON'T be our last. Becky and Doug are a wonderful sociable couple, i haven't felt so welcome in a B&B for ages. The food was fab..breakfast and dinner were really tasty and nicely cooked. We were asked if we minded taking a different room...but we hadnt even been up to see our room so felt it made no difference....but the room was smaller than what we had booked, ie one bedside cabinet etc,it was only more annoying as we were staying for 2 nights. BUT the rooms are as you see on the website, nicely decorated and comfortable beds! and clean. Nothing was a problem for Becky and Doug so you only have to ask if something is amiss! :0)

bulls head in the village of hartshorne in derbyshire was like going back in time. the pub was welcoming from the start. My husband had a fillet steak and I had stilton chicken, and halfway through we swapped because we both were so impressed with our tasty meals we wanted to try each others!!We don't live locally, but we were treated by the staff as if we were there most regular locals. The waitress even remembered our names when we left.Hope we can call again next time donnington event is on

As i am a visitor all the way from Australia to this lovely area,I so much enjoyed the British hospitality in this lovely pub.The service was excellent,The food was superb(we had duck)and the over generous portions left us very satisfied. We will be returning back home soon and my wife and I decided to have one last meal at the Bulls Head and you guessed it Duck again she wants. Kind regards to the management and staff at the Bulls Head. Murray Hammond

There was four adults and our grandson when we visited the Bulls Head at Hartshorne on 3rd May for Sunday Lunch. A friend from work had recomended it and it more than came up to expectations. The meal was excellent value for money and the staff bent over backwards to oblige. One of the best Sunday Lunches that we have had in a long time. Going to try the evening specials next time. More to follow..........

Just had the worst meal in ages and very disappointed - as it cost over £60 - far more than an excellent pub meal we had in London over the Christmas holidays. We had a vote in the car before we went out about where we were going to go to eat. The kids voted for The Bulls Head as they'd had good meals there before with friends. This time everyone was disappointed. Starters were ok, but we had Lasagne and the Fish platter for our main course. One lasagne tasted stale and strange (certainly not of the passata and basil as described) and within a few bites really didn't want to eat any more - or anything at all. another lasagne was lukewarm and soon cold. The fish platter was dry and tasteless. The kids insisted on staying to order one dessert, which was 'hot' chocolate fudge cake - but even this was lukewarm. On the way home we speculated whether the cooker (microwave?) was actually set at the right temperature, as none of the food had been hot. All of us really regretted our vote and we certainly won't be going back in a hurry. We came home and ate toast!
