This former dilapidated Admiral chain pub has been transformed over three years into an absolutely unique medieval restaurant and real ale beer hall. Above all it is a family establishment that caters for feasting your senses with great food and beers but also a very quirky decor of scrubbed Victorian pine tables, tapestries, artifacts found in the restoration of the premises and crazy "things" like holes in the wall, untouched lathe and plaster 700 hundred years old, a dragon's tail (too difficult to describe) etc etc.
Great atmosphere friendly and knowledgeable staff (there's a first)and leaflets on the history of the pub (claim 1388) and Colchester - the plagues, witch-hunts etc
