Fantastic night - warm, comfortable surroundings, lovely atmosphere, delicious food, exceptionally friendly and helpful staff - nothing was too much trouble and all at a very reasonable price. Our party of 7 all agreed it was one of the best New Year's Eve we've had out and we hope we can book in for next year! In the meantime, we will be returning very soon with our family for some more lovely food! Many thanks again - Carol.

Very disappointing visit to the Queen's Head pub in Burley. After a long morning's cycling, we stopped at the Queen's Head pub because it was the first one we came across and it had a large beer garden. We noticed the sign by the food ordering point saying the wait for food was 1hour (it was 2pm at the time), so although it was a long time, at least we knew.
There were 8 of us in our group and 6 of us were disappointed by our meals. The traditional salad with ham contained the same amount of salad as the garnish for the burger and the ham was one slice. For nearly £7 it definitely wasn't good value. The cheese and mayo wraps were distinctly lacking in mayo so were rather dry. The burgers (cost ~£8), although appeared freshly made, were oily and cold by the time they arrived and the cheese in it was less than appetising, topped off with dry bread meant they didn't get eaten.
After an hour's wait and a long bike ride in the morning, we could have eaten anything as we were so hungry, but the fact some of us couldn't eat our meals shows it definitely wasn't good. We complained and got a refund on one burger because it wasn't eaten but they didn't really seem to care about our complaints. Maybe that's because the lady next to us also complained that her meal wasn't very good but still went on to order a dessert!
On a plus side, the two members of our group who had the thai curry said it was quite nice. I would not recommend visiting this pub for food but suggest you try a different pub in the village. Burley is a lovely place, attracting many tourists, which I guess is why this pub doesn't need to worry about complaints too much because I expect most people who visit it are only in the area for a day or so and would be unlikely to have the chance to return anyway.
