When I arrived at the Lincolnshire Poacher I was immediately told that there would not be any breakfast the following morning because 'it was the chef's birthday'. I'd made the booking only two days previously and I'm fairly sure the person telling me this was the same one I'd spoken to on the phone then. He gave me a £5 discount, told me there wouldn't be anywhere else to get anything the following morning but that there was a kettle etc in the room. The room itself was OK. I could have overlooked the hole someone had kicked in the stud wall, and the fact that come the morning, there turned out to be about 20 sachets of decaf and one not, and even the fact that they couldn't be bothered to sort out the breakfast part in a bed and breakfast, but I couldn't forgive the black mould all over the shower head which meant I couldn't even have a proper wash. So if I'm giving it marks out of ten, I'd say about 3.
