We traveled 70 miles to have lunch with my brother and sister in law. An hour after our order was taken the meal arrived. All four meals were tepid, we were told you were very busy, sorry but that is not our concern. If you cannot cope then maybe you should book your restaurant accordingly. We ordered three desserts which again were barely warm[including the custard]. My relative asked for it to be reheated and when it came back there was no difference. The meals were disgusting. When I complained I was just told 'sorry'. We have regularly eaten at the Dog House Inn but it will be a long time before we go back if we go back at all. WE WERE VERY DISAPPOINTED BY THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE.

Good Points: Spacious hotel in a scenic area. Friendly staff. Great bed, duvet and pillows! Bad Points: Not enough history of the hotel readily available. The Chef needs to go on a training course on how to cook and what food to buy. The menu did not reflect what you got on your plate. The room was cold on arrival. The kettle only worked if you had enough water in it,otherwise there wass a dodgy connection. No flannels supplied. Directions to the hotel was poor and the knowledge of the area by staff was poor. General review: Hotel was nice and most of the staff were friendly. The surrounding area was a pleasure to travel round.

Good Points: Our room was comfortable and clean. It was of good size and we had a great view of the countryside. General review: The hotel is in a rural location and is very quiet. The pub and restaurant had a good atmosphere and a good menu. The staff were very helpful organising a taxi for us and also looking after us during our stay. The hotel is only about 8 miles from Oxford.Bad Points: I only grumbled about pillows which were hard and uncomfortable for me

Good Points: Pleasant bar area. Huge choice of food - served piping hot. Bedrooms very clean and comfortable. General review: This inn is perfect for a short break in our opinion. Close to Oxford but in rural settings. There were so many choices on the menu and the food was so good that we were tempted to stay another night just to try out some different dishes. Very good value for money and one of the best inns we have stayed at. Will definitely go back.

I visited with a group of friends, while the welcome was friendly the manner of booking-in we found unduly intrusive. The dinner was over-priced, under-sized, ill prepared and poorly served. The junior staff were unsupported, and when eventually our dissatisfaction was acknowledged by a member of the management team it was done so grudgingly. We were told that we would not be charged for our dinner. However our bill included a charge for the one meal of five that was pleasant but spoiled by the quality of the rest. I will not be recommending this establishment to any friend, acquaintance or even a mild enemy!
