Hello,
When I was a young boy this superb pub was run by my great uncle and aunt, George and Maud, with their son Roy. My family spent several summers in here and I remember well the fields behind the pub, before the bypass was constructed, which I once took the risk of crossing to try to get to Lavenham, about 3 miles away. Whenever I think of this idyll I recall being chased round the courtyard by a huge English cock, resident of the large brick barn to the right of the pub, and the odour of the Greene King beer served by my uncle and aunt to the locals.
Great memories and thank you for having revived them.

We dropped in on our way back from Lincolnshire to Colchester, and were absolutely delighted with the service and the food. This is probably the best Sunday lunch we've enjoyed in a long while, and the staff were just great. We will call again, and will unhesitatingly recommend the Rose & Crown.
Many thanks to all of you.

fantastic food under new ownership now and they have made a great effort in making everyone feel welcome. last time i was there they only sold IPA now Andy offers adnams broadside that started as a guest but is so popular he kept it. a range of fortnightly guests will appear. i also recommend the black pudding gataeu, and the white chocolate cheesecake is to die for.
