lovely family friendly village pub with great food and great service. you can chooce to eat in the bar area, the restarant or the garden ( depending on the weather obviously ) . the staff are friendly and always willing to go out of there way to help. i have asked for things that are not on the menu before now and basically if they can do it they will unlike other places ive tried. this is by far my fav pub and even though ive got a pub within 2 min walk from where i live i would rather drive 5 miles to the cock inn. one word of warning it does get very busy especially on tuesday evening ( which is there steak night ) and on special occassions like valentines day, mothers/fathers day etc so its best to pre book around those times.

I am writing with reference to the above pub that we visited yesterday afternoon. After an appauling experience I feel the need to inform you of the failures of such a place.
The first issue was with the food, although minor, on top of what we experienced later on made it the icing on the cake. We were a table of 4, 3 adults and one toddler. We ate in the garden area which I will point out is quite pleasant. We ordered three main meals, scampi and chips, two indian/chinese combos and chicken coujons with chips and baked beans for my little girl. We received our order within good time, however the toddler meal was completely forgotten. We were told that there was a fault with the till which is why it was marked off but we did in fact not pay for it and so if we wanted one we would have to pay £3.75. Which is fine, mistakes happen. The two Indian/Chinese combos were made as starters, (although we paid for a main course) so no chips were with it. Again this was rectified quickly and the chips arrived son after. The silly issue with the combos was that one combo had a piece of chicken satay and the other didn't. So we said oh I think they've missed something off one of the combo's and the waitress took them both back. She returned with the same plates with the excuse that no two combos are the same and that's just how it is. So, feeling cheated out of my chicken satay, I gave my husband the bigger plate! The quality of the food was very good. When we eventually had it after the commotion we all enjoyed our meals, (if at different times).
After our meals I went in to order another round of drinks. We already had a bar tab and I wanted one of the drinks added to the tab and the others to pay by cash. There was a confusion with this and the bar maid became very frustrated to the point where she shouted at me from behind the bar infront of everyone, shaking with pure anger. When I tried to explain further that I wanted 1 drink added to the tab and the other 2 to be paid by cash she became very argumentative. I said to her I don't want a confrontation or argument in any way, I just came to to have a relaxing evening and have a few drinks with my family when she threatened me and said she would have to move away from me before she really lost her temper. I have never been treated in such a way from anyone let alone someone who is supposed to be providing a service to a customer. I am concerned for other patrons of this pub as there is a separate camping business attached to this establishment which is very family orientated. Thankfully my daughter was playing in the garden with my husband and didn't witness this womans behaviour. I was shocked again to find the owner was standing there witnessing the barmaids behaviour and didn't intervene in any way.
This pub is in a lovely location, with good pub food if only the management could train their staff appropriately

We were staying in the area and by pure chance strolled into the Cock Inn to peruse the menu. My wife is vegetarian and also avoids gluten but she was very pleased to find two main courses to choose from whilst I went for the steak.
Both meals were excellent, being well cooked and plentiful. The service was superb as well.
Many thanks

Found this pub driving past on the way to a hotel. Went in for evening meal and had a wonderful roast dinner. (Dont be put off by the people hanging around the front door smoking!)Very nice seperate eating area and a lovely waitress - it was her first night there and she was amazing. We enjoyed it so much that we went back the next night. Very reasonably priced and definitely worth a visit.

Just came across this pub and decided to go in for lunch today. Brilliant roast dinner, just like good home cooking, and at a reasonable price. Great, shall return.
