I have read all reviews on this hotel and feel that the previous remarks are wholey unfair.
We visited the hotel on the off chance in July looking for a venue for uour wedding next year. The staff where very welcoming despite being extremly busy.We where invited to call again when we where given 2hrs of hospitality to discuss our wedding plans.
As our parents where no with us we all went for sunday lunch today, again excellent service and time taken to show my parents around the hotel.
thankyou for today and we are looking fwd to next august.

On booking we informed the proprietor that we had 3 children in our party and asked if this was a problem, we were informed that this wasn't but he suggested we GAGGED THE CHILDREN we laughed at this, however to our detriment found this was far from being a joke!!
During our meal there we were barred RE-ENTRY to the restaurant after a visit to the toilet with my daughter DESPITE NOT HAVING STARTED THE MAIN COURSE. Following being ejected from the dining room we were asked to settle the bill in full despite being unable to consume not even half of our food and drink. The proprietor alleged the children were being disruptive, i would have been the first to admit if my children were in least bit noisy and would have left the dining area immediately. Diners who were sitting right next to us commented on how delightful and well behaved they were!!
after a lengthy discussion we were eventually able to reduce that bill to the food that had actually been consumed. We were however threatened with POLICE ACTION????!!!!
BEWARE!!
WE LEFT HERE DISGUSTED, MORTIFIED AND VERY UPSET. NEVER HAVE WE ENCOUNTERED SUCH DISCRIMINATION WITH CHILDREN. This hotel claims to be a FAMILY RUN BUSINESS but is a far cry from being FAMILY FRIENDLY. I will never return here again and not suggest it to family and friends!!!! Dont get me wrong the food what we had of it was very good but the front of house management and service left a very BITTER TASTE!!!!

What a wonderful Country House Hotel. I helped my parents celebrate their golden wedding anniversary at Plas Maenan Hotel along with 17 other family members.
We had the most wonderful time and were looked after splendidly. We really can not fault any part of our stay. The food was outstanding , service second to none. All staff very friendly. The whole atmosphere of the hotel is very relaxed and homely but not at all inaficient because of this. I am sure the grounds are worth exploring too however the weather was the only thing that wasn't kind to us that day.

We travel round the UK a lot and have stayed in many different hotels and we all agree that this is the most beautiful of them all. This is for many reasons. The setting is lovely, the attention to detail is extraordinary. The food is wonderful. We can honestly say that we couldn't find any room for improvement. The people who run the Plas Manean are wonderful and friendly and have a way of making you feel so special and relaxed. We have already booked a couple more weekends here because we don't want to miss out. Good luck to James and Caroline.
