I can only agree with what Ellen wrote previous. I went with my wife after our friends had recommended this Toby Carvery. The welcome we received from the host and then from the polite young waiter was a rare service seen these days. The carvery looked amazing and fresh and tasted even better. We finished this with a couple hot puddings and we were even allowed extra custard as it was bottomless jug.Coupled with a couple of pints it cost less than £20 - excellent value. I can only say this is the best meal i have had in ages and now i've found Salters wharf i can't wait to go back next week. You've got to try this place.

May I say that I can only agree with the previous comments regarding the previous owners of this restaurant, however, since being taken over by Toby Carvery, I have had my views changed. Gone is the mediocre re-microwaved, re-fried overpriced rubbish that they used to turn out an hour after you ordered it. Not only is the food fresh and cooked to perfection, but the change of staff is apparent as they are all friendly and welcoming - my congratulations go to the new managers of this place! The beer is good and the food is great value for money, the play area has gone giving back this restaurant to the adults without being family unfriendly! Well done, it's about time that we had a great eating establishment in St. Annes with a great pub to relax in.

I have, in the past, visited Salter's Wharf on many occasions with my family. It is convenient and the grandchildren enjoy it as they are able to play in the ball pit and play area. I cannot state that I have actually enjoyed a meal there as I find the food to be mediocre. On my last 3 visits I have had rresaon to complain about the service, the staff's attitude, the lack of staff, the staff's apparent lack of training and about the food, (quality, presentation and delays in service). On the last occasion (a Sunday)the restaurant was very busy and the establishment was grossly understaffed. We were informed that there would be a 45 minute delay, which we accepted as we were with quite a large party. I attended the bar for some drinks, there was 1 barman and a queue a mile long, I could not help but overhear other customers complaining about the poor service so I complained to the Manager only to be told that it was not her fault as they were understaffed. Our food eventually arrived, much later that the 45 min delay, and as on previous occasions it was of a poor standard. Whilst I appreciate that this is not an expensive place to eat, and generally speaking one gets what one pays for, I do not find this place to be value for money. Having given them many opportunities to correct the service based on complaints that I have made, I will never eat in Salter's Wharf again and will certainly never recommend it to any one else. I am a great believer in addressing complaints with someone who can resolve my issues, It is blatantly that the staff do not have that ability or interest and the management obviously don't give a damn about there customers.
